ICS Participates in South Carolina Civic Communications Project

The Institute for Child Success (ICS) is participating in the South Carolina Civic Communications Project, a statewide initiative that brings together nonprofit organizations, foundations, and civic leaders to strengthen how organizations communicate with and engage communities across South Carolina.

As part of the project, Kaitlin Watts and Deborah DePaoli represented ICS at the recent in-person convening, where leaders from across the state gather to learn, collaborate, and share ideas. The session was led by Ann Seawright and Matt Sheheen of the University of Florida’s Center for Public Interest Communications and focuses on research-based communication strategies that help organizations build trust, connect with diverse audiences, and inspire meaningful action.

Throughout the session, participants explored topics such as audience segmentation, identifying spheres of influence, narrative development, and strategic messaging. In addition to the learning opportunities, the convening provides valuable time for participants to build relationships with peers working to create positive change in communities across South Carolina.

The South Carolina Civic Communications Project is supported by a coalition of South Carolina philanthropic organizations, including Arras Foundation, Central Carolina Community Foundation, Hollingsworth Funds, Jolley Foundation, Mary Black Foundation, Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina, Spartanburg County Foundation, Together SC, and Greater Good Greenville.

ICS is excited to be part of this ongoing project and looks forward to applying new communication strategies that support our mission of improving outcomes for children and families across South Carolina.
