2023 Nurturing Developing Minds Conference Keynote – Cemeré James Equity in early childhood: An ongoing process for systems-level leaders

Cemeré James is an executive leader and policy advisor with expertise in child development and racial equity. Cemeré is a natural public speaker and thought leader who leverages expertise in child development to conceptualize strategic advocacy plans and systemic reforms designed to help all children succeed. Cemeré is National Director of Movement Building at Children’s Defense Fund. She was previously an Equity Advisor at School Readiness Consulting. Cemeré also served as Vice President of Policy and interim President and CEO at the National Black Child Development Institute. Prior to NBCDI, Cemeré was a senior policy analyst at the Center for Law and Social Policy. Cemeré was also Lead Operations Specialist at Illinois Department of Human Service and an inaugural fellow in the Illinois Early Childhood Fellows Program.
