ICS Celebrates “Sweet 16” Anniversary of Helping Children Succeed

Board members Merl Code, Linda Brees, Ann Robinson, Tami McKnew, Susan Shi, Desmond Kelly at the “A Toast to ICS” event at the Grand Bohemian Lodge in downtown Greenville, SC

We kicked off our Sweet 16 anniversary with the “A Toast to ICS!” celebration, raising a glass to toast the first 15 years of ICS! Board Chair, Calvin Calhoun III, addressed guests with opening remarks about ICS accomplishments and praise for ICS founders. The highlight of the evening was when The Honorable Merl Code and Minor Shaw took the stage to announce the launch of the ICS Sweet 16 Campaign.  Code will serve as Chair and Shaw as Honorary Chair of the Sweet 16 Campaign, seeking support for the ICS Innovation Fund.  As Shaw explained, the innovation fund “will provide the capital that allows ICS to develop bold new solutions, to step in when there’s an urgent need, and to continue to serve as a mission-aligned bulwark for critical work.” With support from friends like each of you, we are excited to raise funds focused on projects where ICS can innovate and provide expertise when communities call on us for help.

“It was a wonderful evening showcasing the mission and impact of ICS. Whether you were with us in person or in spirit, I thank ALL of YOU for your ongoing support of our work!” said Jamie Moon, ICS CEO.

ABOUT ICS:

Launched in 2010, the Institute for Child Success (ICS) is an independent research and applied policy organization. ICS works to create a culture that facilitates and fosters the success of all children. ICS supports policymakers, service providers, government agencies, funders, and business leaders focused on early childhood development, healthcare, and education, with the goal of improving the lives of young children prenatal to age eight and their families. ICS helps young children succeed by working with stakeholders to seek holistic solutions to complex early childhood challenges.

ICS proposes smart public policies grounded in research to improve outcomes for all children. We support organizations that support young children and families: Practitioners, providers, policymakers, foundations, and elected officials. We believe in the power of bold ideas to shape the dialogue about our children’s futures and build a more just society.
