Moving the Literacy Needle in South Carolina: A Community Conversation about Read to Succeed

Brought to you by The Institute for Child Success and Public Education Partners

December 12, 2018 – 4:30 to 7pm
Children’s Museum of the Upstate, Greenville

Passed in 2015, South Carolina’s Read to Succeed law aimed to improve early literacy by focusing on third-grade reading scores. Join us for a conversation on the ongoing impacts of this law on South Carolina’s young learners, local efforts to build early literacy, and what’s next for the Palmetto State as well as a networking reception after the event, featuring:

  • Melanie Barton, Executive Director, South Carolina Education Oversight Committee
  • Ron Fairchild, Senior Consultant, Campaign for Grade-Level Reading
  • Jeff McCoy, Associate Superintendent for Academics, Greenville County Public Schools
