2018 Families Learning Conference
September 24 @ 8:00 am - September 26 @ 5:00 pm
ICS Director of Policy Research Megan Carolan will present at the 2018 Families Learning Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (September 24-26). At her session, “The Whole Tree: Extended Families in Education” attendees will:
- learn the importance of extended family engagement and its impact on child wellness and education;
- identify barriers to engaging extended family in educational and community-based programs; and
- work collaboratively to identify daily strategies to engage extended family in their settings.
This session has immediate connections for policymakers in removing barriers for families and for service providers (classrooms and community-based programs). As the research on extended family policy is still in its infancy, this session will be heavily interactive, empowering attendees to share their experiences and mapping policy implications from those data points.
We invite you to join us at this premier national conference – early bird registration discounts are available until June 1.
